Volunteers are the lifeblood of AYSO. To ensure the safety of both children and volunteers, each volunteer is required to take a short in-person or online training session called Safe Haven®. It focuses on safety and appropriate behavior with children as well as first aid and other on-field issues. Agreeing to a background check is also required for each volunteer.
You will need to get your eAYSO ID Number from the referee administrator to complete the Safe Haven® training.
Basic Referee Online Training is an attractive alternative to taking the complete Basic Referee Course in-person. This training enables prospective referees to learn the majority of material in the Basic Referee Course at their own pace using computer-based instruction.

Emotional outbursts from the coach can be vivid and typically brief, undirected, and often quickly regretted. The
referee must understand the complex emotions coaches experience in relation to the match, and discount appropriately
language which does no lasting harm to those who might have heard or seen the outburst. Of course, the coach might
well be warned in various ways (a brief word, direct eye contact, etc.) regarding his behavior...
